Meet Elodie Rasoloarivony…

Elodie at Ammo

Elodie was required to do an overseas internship of 4 months as part of her Globalisation and International Trade master’s programme, and she found the perfect opportunity as a digital marketing intern at Ammo Jewellery in Siem Reap.

As a digital marketing intern, Elodie was tasked with finding efficient ways to manage customer databases, creating a communications strategy in French, designing logos and marketing materials for Ammo’s new community art cafe, and even do some modelling and photography work!

Even though Elodie’s internship was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Elodie was able to learn many professional, social, and cultural skills during her internship and bring them back home with her. Here she is now to talk about her experience in Siem Reap.

Hi, Elodie! What’s the achievement you’re most proud of in your internship project?

I’m most proud of being able to put in place something concrete thanks to a skill that I have, and to do it with passion.

Do you think this volunteering experience helped your future studies or career?

Yes, it helped a lot! It helped me to find my vocation, which is digital marketing. I’d never been confident like I am today regarding my future studies and career.

What did you enjoy doing the most during your free time in Cambodia? Elodie Rasoloarivony

Going to the swimming pool and enjoying tasty and cheap food!

Did you experience any kind of problems during your stay?

I didn’t really stay long enough time to have a problem during my stay. I lived alone, so maybe I would eventually have a problem of feeling a bit of loneliness.

What would be your advice for future volunteers wanting to follow your example?

Do it if you feel like you want to experience to do a project abroad! Pdg is here to do a follow up with you to make sure you fit with what they propose. Cambodia is a place where it is easy to adapt. Maybe it will be a bit difficult in the beginning, but afterwards you’ll adapt to the lifestyle and everything will be okay.
